_____ 1st Chapter _____
Preface
After finishing the first book Jordan Kingston and the Unknown, I saw the possibility of a sequel. Reading Jordan's first book is highly recommended to help you understand this continued story.
In Jordan Kingston Keeping the Secret, Jordan and his cousin, Brayden, will take you on a ride through the believable or unbelievable possibility of Aliens.
Are extraterrestrials spying on us? Did people see flying saucers? How about those crop circles? Have you ever thought there are aliens and flying saucers flying around making them? Or, are there just some pranksters out there having fun in the fields? What about Roswell, New Mexico? In July 1947, a craft crashed in the desert. The Roswell Army Airbase was involved in recovering the craft and there were, possibly, "bodies" reported?
Okay. Now, truthfully, what do you think?
Have you seen a UFO, or do you know of someone who swears they have seen one?
Jordan Kingston, the main character, along with his best friend (and cousin), Brayden, explore the possibilities that aliens visited earth thousands of years ago, and maybe even now. Jordan is a believer in "Alientology," a word coined to describe the study and belief in aliens and how they have impacted human civilization. Jordan believes in the possibility that extraterrestrials did visit the Earth in ancient times giving knowledge and guidance to ancient civilizations so as to advance their cultures.
There came a time when Jordan, and eventually Brayden, were introduced to real Aliens by their grandpa. They were brought into a group the Aliens call the "Knowing."
Jordan, now in the Knowing group, was taken aside and told that he is an Alien himself. Going through many learning sessions, he will be taught everything from the Aliens past to the present. Now Jordan is under Tarke's guidance, the captain of the Alien’s spaceship at the bottom of Lake Michigan.
You have the book open, so get in and enjoy their continued journey through Jordan’s adventure trying to find out as much as he can and keeping his secret.
The story continues . . .
It's been a long, interesting, fact finding, and challenging summer. Jordan has gone through many learning sessions with Tarke by his side. With summer slowly coming to an end, it's time for Tarke to take a long-deserved break.
"Good morning, Jordan,” says Tarke, as he walks into the lunch room where Jordan is finishing breakfast.
"Good Morning, Tarke,” Jordan replies, as he takes a sip of his juice.
Tarke picks out a breakfast drink and takes his seat at the table with Jordan. "I have been doing a lot of thinking lately, and it's time for you to take a little more responsibility." Tarke looks at Jordan. "I'm going to visit your grandfather for a couple of days."
Jordan looks up at Tarke. "That sounds like fun for you and Grandpa," he says with a smile.
"I have had you by my side and I'm very pleased with how you have handled everything," Tarke says, looking at Jordan. "This morning I'm going to make an announcement to the crew telling them that I'm going to take a couple of days off and you will be in command of the ship while I'm gone."
Jordan asks, "You think that I'm ready for this responsibility?"
"Yes, I have full confidence in your ability. You have handled every job that I have given you with ease," he tells Jordan, as he finishes his breakfast drink and stands up. Jordan had finished his breakfast, so he gets up to walk out of the lunch room with Tarke. They go up to the main ship's control room where Tarke takes a seat in the captain's chair and with a wave of his hand over the control panel, he looks at Jordan, "attention team... I have an announcement. Attention team," he pauses, "I'm going to take a couple days' break starting today. I'm immediately placing Jordan in command of the ship for the next three days. With my full trust and your respect, here is your captain."
Tarke stands and motions Jordan to take the captain's seat. Jordan takes the captain’s seat, looking around the control room as the workers are watching him.
"It's all yours for the next three days, Jordan. Take command and make your first announcement as commander."
Jordan waves his hand over the main control panel. "Thank you, Tarke, and everybody for your support. I'm anticipating a good time working with you and getting to know you more as we give Tarke a few enjoyable well deserved days off. Thank you."
Jordan waves his hand over the control panel turning it off and stands with Tarke.
They go back down to the central area of the ship as Tarke heads for his room to get his things ready for his visit with Jordan's grandparents.
Jordan sends a message to Pete, “Pete, will you get Tarke's transporter ready for him, please."
Pete responds, "Yes, Captain, sir, I'm getting it ready now."
"You don't have to call me Captain,” Jordan replies.
Pete messages back. "I'm just having fun with you; can't a brother do that? “
Jordan messages back with a grin on his face, "Okay, Bro, I can deal with it."
Jordan looks down the hallway and can see Tarke coming with a sports bag in hand.
As Tarke walks up, Jordan tells him, "Your transporter should be ready. I had Pete get it out for you."
"Thanks, you are on the ball. I knew you would be," Tarke answers, as he is walking to the bridge.
Pete comes walking out of the bridge corridor. "Your transporter is waiting for you. Have a pleasurable couple of days off, sir."
"Thanks," answers Tarke, as he walks into the bridge to the transporter.
Jordan and Pete stand there watching as Tarke leaves.
Pete looks at Jordan, "could you have ever thought that you would be in charge of a space ship? Or like Brayden would say, UFO."
"No, not in my wildest dreams," he answers with a smile. "Let's go to the leisure room and visit for a while." They head to the leisure room.
As they are on their way, Jordan is stopped by one of the crew, "Congratulations, Jordan, on your promotion," he says as he reaches out to shake his hand.
"Thank you very much for your support. May I ask your name?" Jordan asks as he reaches out to shake.
"I'm Scan," he answers.
"Now that's an unusual name. Scan….I like it." Jordan gives him a good shake of the hands.
Jordan and Pete enter the leisure room and take their seats.
"Well, Pete. This summer has been more than I could ever have begun to dream of. I'm now temporary captain of this ship, and I have a brother," looking at Pete and trying not to cry. "And, I'm actually one of those Aliens that I believed in so much. It's a wonder that I haven't fallen into the loony bin with everything that has happened."
Pete is looking at him with a big smile. "Jordan, you are too smart for the loony bin. In our society, each one of us is groomed for a particular job. Mine is transportation, and with your knowledge, your job is to be commander of a ship like this."
"Okay?" Jordan agrees with a question. "I have been told that they have plans for me."
"Yes, Jordan, I have known about you for a long time. The Elders have had your future planned from the beginning of your life." Pete looks around the room for a moment, "you have been a believer all your life, haven't you?"
"Yes, I have," he agrees.
"There are reasons for that. Look back when your grandfather first took you out on his boat to meet me," Pete says as he is looking at Jordan. "Yes, it was a shocking experience, but you got over it with the belief that it was true."
"Yes," agreeing with Pete. "It didn't take a lot of explaining; I believed Grandpa."
"Now put Brayden in your spot, being a non-believer," Pete tells Jordan.
Jordan thinks about it for a minute. "Oh yes," he says in agreement. "I got it. It would have been some elaborate joke to him."
"Yep, the Elders took their time with you and did their diligent planning."
"I'm happy they did; I don't think that I would have liked the loony bin," Jordan says with a smile. "It's been nice talking with you; it's time for me to do my job." They both get up, "Pete, I'm so happy to have you as my brother and can't wait to get to know you even more."
With a hug, they walk out the door.
Jordan walks over to the lift to go up to the main control room. There he takes his seat in the captain's chair. Jordan just sits there for a couple of minutes looking around and starts thinking; I'm actually sitting in the captain's chair of a space ship. If Brayden was here right now, he would go crazy. Tarke is with Grandpa; he must be beaming with pride. Jordan's thoughts go on for a while, then he snaps back to business as he waves his hand over the control panel and gets down to work.
